Spear UAV, an Israeli developer and manufacturer of high-end UAS and loitering munition systems, is introducing two solutions at the DEFEA 2023 exhibition, currently taking place in Athens, Greece. One is the VIPER, a personal aerial weapon system for ground forces, and the other is the NINOX 103 – the only proven sub-to-air loitering UAS.

The company describes the VIPER as a “personal air force” for soldiers, which eliminates the need to ask for any external support from the air force or any special UAS unit.  This lightweight, small system can be easily carried by a soldier (even more than one system can be carried). A single user operates the system easily, with a minimum training.

The VIPER can be launched immediately, from a ruggedized capsule (launcher). Its AI-based system enables any soldier to operate it easily, gather intelligence, and attack a target, if need be, with its advanced ATR algorithms. Providing a significant aerial advantage, the VIPER’s hovering capability enables aerial observation of targets in complex urban environments, in which a conventional aircraft (fixed wing) would be inefficient.


The second system Spear will present is the NINOX 103.  This system was already deployed from submarines many times, and has successfully demonstrated its capability to surface and launch itself autonomously – expanding the dimensions underwater warfare. In addition, the system sends a real-time video stream to the submarine, as well as to other “clients,” thanks to the incorporated P2MP technology.
