U.S. Expands Number of Units Engaged in EW and Spectrum Warfare

The units will be integrated into combat scenarios to assist, among other things, the Air Force in seizing vast amounts of information

The U.S. Air Force has added two new squadrons to its 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing. 

The 563rd Electronic Warfare Squadron (EWS) will focus on the development and distribution of programs and applications relevant to the field. It will operate from Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. The 388th EWS  will specialize in assessing adversaries' capabilities in this domain and operate from Eglin Air Base in Florida. 

350th SWW Mission 2021

The two new EWSs were officially established on May 2nd. Their main task is to monitor enemy capabilities and adversaries, identifying potential opportunities to disrupt enemy systems.  They are joining the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing 350, established in 2021, which is responsible for the electronic warfare capabilities of the Air Force. The 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing is currently engaged in establishing another entity, The 950th Spectrum Warfare Group 950.

According to Defense Scoop, these activities are based on assessments of existing and future threats in the fields of EW in aerial warfare.

Robins Air Force Base welcomes two electronic warfare units

Col. Joshua Koslov, commander of the 350th, told reporters that these are the first units in the Air Force to be entirely digital and engaged in the development of EW software. He added that the units are developing key technologies to be integrated into combat scenarios to assist, among other things, the Air Force in seizing vast amounts of threat-related data and to expedite the development of operational-combat capabilities aimed at attacking the enemy.
