The Ecuadorian Army received the first units of the new Mbombe 6 armored vehicles, manufactured by Paramount and acquired through the Israeli company Elbit Systems. This, according to a report by Argentinian military website Zona Militar.
The Mbombe 6 is a 6×6 wheeled armored vehicle with the capacity to transport up to 11 fully equipped soldiers. The crew consists of a driver, the vehicle commander, a gunner, and eight infantry personnel. The vehicles are equipped with Elbit's E-Lynx software-defined radio communication system, along with a suite of applications for combat information management and the Magni vertical takeoff and landing drone, manufactured by Elbit's subsidiary Flying Production.
The Magni drone provides real-time intelligence thanks to its fully autonomous operation and advanced control software, allowing it to be launched from a vehicle and operated by a single operator.
According to the website, these vehicles, acquired in 2022, are intended for military operations to combat terrorist groups and drug trafficking organizations operating on the northern border. They will be operated by the Mechanized Cavalry Brigade No. 3 "Manabí".
