SPACE - S0 - 20191118 - Earth Events, Volcano Watch, Disaster Science

Good Morning, Observers!

Solar winds are currently hovering near 370 KPS, after peaking just above 480 KPS late yesterday morning then leveling to around 360-370 since midnight. We did have a spike in the KP Index in the final reading last night to KP-3 (still relatively calm) but it has dropped to three consecutive KP-0 readings, so we'll be keeping an eye on that. Electron counts seem to be back up to their normal cycle after yesterday's severe drop. The coronal hole in the Northern hemisphere is just crossing the meridian, as is the bright spot in the south. The former should increase the solar winds in 48-72 hours, and the latter is still showing little if any magnetic complexity and a complete lack of sunspots. However, it did pop a CME yesterday, so it is well worth monitoring.
