SPACE - S0 - 20191224 - Sunspots, Earthquakes, Climate Fight, Special Video

Merry Christmas Eve, Observers!

There was a miniature CME (more a "pop" actually) in the SouthWest approaching the lim, but there wasn't enough strength or direction to be a risk to Earth. A new bright spot came up on the SouthEast lim and that had some beautiful activity. Eyes open on that one as it approaches the midpoint. Solar winds remain relatively calm, hovering around 330 KPS, but there was a boost in particle density in the last couple of hours which is usually the precursor of a wind speed increase, so we'll see. KP Indexes remain in the KP-1 to KP-2 range, with a few KP-0s thrown in for good measure (but no cosmic ray hits on the detectors. Electron levels are generally flat. The ocean off the west coast of Canada was busy yesterday with a series of quakes building intensity from a Mag 5.1 to Mag 6.0 three quakes later, almost all in the same exact spot.Guatemala also got pranged with a Mag 5.8, as did Micronesia (same magnitude).

By the bye, check out the NORAD Santa Tracker here:
