SPACE - S0 - 20191103 - Space Weather, Storm Alert, Science Myths

Good Morning, Observers!

Welcome to the end of Daylight Saving Time (please, let it end forever!!!). We were in KP-0 territory for over 30 hours, but it did bump up overnight to KP-1 and KP-2 before sinking back to zero. Got a spike in the various solar wind/activity charts because of it thanks to a rather nasty cosmic ray strike hitting the detectors. Solar wind speed has sunk further from yesterday, latest reading showing it around 320 KPS.

Some gorgeous plasma filaments dancing along the lim again, really worth watching. The bright spot active areas still seem to be sans sunspot activity, but those can always crop up so keep an eye peeled. One new one popped up and is well past the meridian, but the one in the South is just approaching it now. Only a single Mag 6.1 quake in the southern Atlantic west of the tip of South America, so the Mag 7 drought continues. Might not see one until we have another strong coronal hole stream.
