SPACE - S0 - 20200605 - Earth-Facing Solar Quiet, Mayans, USA Storm Alert
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar wind speeds rose yesterday from 300 KPS to 360 KPS in the afternoon, but then calmed down to the 320-340 KPS range. The satellite errors which caused those weird spikes in the readings yesterday seems to have passed. The KP-Index bumped up slightly to the KP-2 range from time to time, still well within the safe range. X-Ray Flux readings jumped up slightly, just to the top of the Class A flare chart. Looks like it came from the Southern sunspot group, which had a minor ejection (facing away from Earth) and a little bit of snapping/arcing action as well. Still very active, and the sunspots are now visible underneath the magnetic prominence activity. A solid, if moderately sized, coronal hole has developed on the equator and should rotate into the midpoint by tomorrow. From the lithosphere, we had a Mag 5.1 off Vanuatu, and a Mag 5.0 off Indonesia, followed by a Mag 5.1 about 15 hours later.
