SPACE - S0 - 20200608 - Paradigm Shift, ANOTHER 'Nearby Nova' Paper, Tornados

Good Morning, 0bservers!

The uptick in solar wind speed continued throughout yesterday, currently in the 480-500 KPS range. There was a strong ramp-up in the particle density just preceding the rise in speed and temperature. This surge caused a minor geomagnetic storm before midnight (KP-4), but this has come back down to the KP-2 to KP-1 range. There was a strong Class B spike in the X-Ray flux, caused by the Southern bright spot, but there was a simultaneous spike in the magnetometer readings, literally going off the scale above 150 nanoTeslas before coming back onto the chart. A moderate amount of quake activity, with a Mag 5.0 in the Philippines, a pair of Mag 5.7s (five minutes apart, no less!) off the Solomon Islands, and a Mag 5.9 blot echo off Papua New Guinea.
