SPACE - S0 - 20200604 - Earthquake Uptick, Mystery of the Milky Way, Spinning Science
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar winds continued their calm, although there were some odd spikes clustered together on the charts up to the 450 KPS range, then back down into the 300-320 KPS range, where the speed currently stands. Similar perturbations showed up on the density and temperature charts, but there does not seem to be any elevations in Cosmic Rays (which are what often cause such spike readings, albeit not as clustered as this). The Phi Angle is still a bit scrambled, but staying in the 250°-360° range. The KP-Index was flat as Kansas yesterday, KP-1s across the board. If there's going to be any activity from the weekend coronal activity, it should arrive today. The coronal hole extending from the North pole has passed the midpoint, trying to connect with some potential holes near the equator (which never really coalesced). The Southern bright spot continues to march toward the centerpoint, but it appears to be degrading, so we'll watch its underlying magnetic structure closely. We did see a Mag 5.53 (yeah, they got that specific) which was later downgraded to a Mag 5.1, about 10 miles South of Searles Valley, California. Otherwise, very little quake activity with the only other temblor of note being a Mag 5.7 about 100 miles North of Labuan Lombok, Indonesia (this one was nearly 400 miles deep).
