SPACE - S0 - 20210331 - 12K and 100K Cycles Resetting, Spraying the Sky

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Saw a drop in solar wind speeds yesterday to a low of about 300 KPS just as the Particle Density started to rise around 1000 UTC. And as you'd expect, we had a pretty good jump in speed start about six hours later, topping out at nearly 420 KPS around 2200 UTC. It's been calming since midnight UTC and we're now in the 330-350 KPS range. Temperature readings pretty much followed the track of the wind speed, and the Phi Angle was not too fussed with the whole thing. The KP-Index did go up a bit around the midnight hour, but it topped out at KP-3 (still in the green). The Magnetometer was mostly nominal, although it did peak out above 120 nT, but it didn't drop below the 40 nT threshold. Electron Flux and Proton Flux remained stable. There was a pretty strong flare on the X-Ray Flux chart around 2000 UTC, going to the top of the Class B range without quite hitting C. However, I didn't see any flaring activity from the departing sunspots. There was a plasma filament release near the North pole, though, and one hell of a large magnetic prominence release a while later just along the Northwest lim at 304Å on the video loops. The 173Å loop shows one equatorial coronal hole passing the midpoint, with the one South and East of that about 24-36 hours behind. There's also an upswell of the coronal hole at the South pole passing the centerline as well.
