SPACE - S0 - 20210301 - Solar Storm, Earth Skeleton, Cycle Spotted

Good Morning, 0bservers!

The Large Coronal Hole from a couple days ago finally made its presence known. We had a jump in Particle Density about 2200 UTC, which started a small rise in solar wind speeds at midnight UTC back to 400 KPS (from yesterday's low of 340 KPS). It topped out at 540 KPS around 0900 UTC before calming to the 490-520 KPS range at present. Temperature readings jumped as well. The Particle Density rise was either triggered by, or triggered, a Phi Angle shift which stabilized and then re-shifted around the same time as wind speeds topped out. The increased wind kicked up a full Geomagnetic storm (KP-6 at 0300 UTC, KP-5 at 0600 UTC) so higher latitudes watch for a nice aurorae tonight. Might have some satcom issues today from this as well, so don't be shocked by problems until the situation calms down a bit (and for about 12 hours afterward, frankly). Magnetogram readings were literally off the chart for a while as the lower end dipped below 40 nanoTeslas (twice), even dropping below 30 nT on the chart. Very wonky (yes, that is a scientific term) readings spurred on by the incoming storm. Electron Flux did pop above the threshold for awhile, but not wildly so, and Proton Flux remained stable. After the Class C flares from the previous report, we've calmed down a bit on the X-Ray Flux chart. Still seeing flare spikes but very small (lower third of Class B).
