SPACE - S0 - 20200819 - Climate, Nova Extinction, Quakes, Hurricane

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Had a pretty sharp (yet brief) rise in solar wind speeds about 2000 UTC, jumping from 330 KPS to 480 KPS, and then back down, all in the space of a half an hour. Current speeds are in the 340-350 KPS range, which is just a bit higher than yesterday's report. When the speed went up, the particle density dipped. The KP-Index is up off the floor after days in the doldrums, with a couple of KP-3 readings overnight, so we're still in the green range here. None of this appears to be from the CME the other day, which shouldn't hit Earth until late tonight or early tomorrow (with little negative effect). Saw a strong rise in the X-Ray Flux, up into the B Class, coming from the Northern bright spot. That location created a third underlying sunspot, increasing its magnetic complexity, but it should cross the Western lim in about 48 hours, so we'll hopefully have lower risk if it decides to become more active. Had a busy lithosphere yesterday, starting with a Mag 5.0 off Perryville Alaska, Then a pair of powerful temblors (Mag 6.8 and 6.9) only six minutes apart off Indonesia (facing the Indian Ocean). No tsunami issues expected from either quake.
