SPACE - S0 - 20200808 - SOHO UFO? Major Censorship, Gulf Stream Shutdown
Good Morning, 0bservers!
We're seeing some "jittery" readings on the charts for solar wind speed, density and temperature this morning. This seems to have started yesterday at mid-morning. Another chart isn't showing this as much, though, and it's giving readings in the 420-440 KPS range, whereas the standard chart is showing fluctuations between 400-460 KPS with constant up/down spikes within that range. Go figure. It certainly hasn't had a negative effect on the KP-Index, though, with readings still in the green range with KP-1s and KP-2s. There was a brief spike a few hours ago in the X-Ray Flux charts, all the way up into the C Class before it went back down to the middle of A Class. Oddly enough, though, I didn't see any surges, sparks or flares, but the video above does show that it was a flare from the only bright spot with underlying magnetic complexity (i.e. sunspots). The bright spots continue their transit across the Northern hemisphere, and those new spots have crossed the Southern lim. The lithosphere was a bit less busy, but we did have some notable temblors, including a Mag 5.1 in the Komandoskiye Ostrova region of Russia, a Mag 5.3 in Northwest China, a mag 5.0 East of Lima Peru, and a pair of quakes (Mag 5.1 and 5.0) only seven minutes apart just off Indonesia followed by a third Mag 5.4 only another 20 minutes later!
