SPACE - S0 - 20200311 - The Moon Mystery, Solar Flare, Cosmic Scalability
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Looks like that Southern bright spot "popped" just as it passed the meridian a little while ago. Visible at 173Å, 171Å and 131Å on the video loops at SpaceWeatherNews.com. There was a definite spike in the X-ray flux (A-range). That said, the solar winds continued downward, dropping below 300 KPS, despite continued instability in the Phi-Angle. The KP Index has gone down to almost all KP-1s, with a KP-0 reading in the late evening. Besides the minor flare, we are seeing some disorganized coronal holes on the equator, some of which have passed the midpoint. We're still expecting a rise in solar wind speed from the Southern coronal hole, probably coming in the next couple of days. A bit more activity in the lithosphere, with a Mag 5.2 in Indonesia with a follow-up Mag 5.5 a few hours later, a Mag 5.5 off Ecuador, and a Mag 5.3 about 70 miles SE of L'Esperance Rock, New Zealand.
