SPACE - S0 - 20210412 - Magnetic Rotation and Tilt of Earth, Electric Forcing
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar winds were generally calm yesterday, ranging from an early morning low of 320 KPS to three spikes above 380 KPS, with the usual variability in-between. Current speeds are in the 330-350 KPS range. There was a brief rise/fall in Particle Density between 0300-0400 UTC, but it didn't really have an impact on wind speeds and it returned to a steady state for the rest of the day. Temperatures rose about the same time, and then stayed steady after that point. Looks like the Density bump was do to a Phi Angle shift, but it wasn't a sever or significant issue beyond that point. The shallower sine wave on the Magnetometer on Saturday did turn into a new and better roller coaster for Sunday, but it still stayed well within the norms with no severe highs or lows on the chart. Proton Flux and Electron Flux remain nominal. There's been a pretty steady rise in the X-Ray Flux background radiation, now reaching into the upper third of the Class A flare range. Some spikes and surges on the chart as well, but none of them reaching Class B. The ENLIL spiral on SpaceWeatherNews.com showed an ejection around 0300 UTC today, so I checked the LASCO C3 loop over at https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/space-weather-enthusiasts, and it confirmed the CME. Problem is, none of video loops are loading at SWN or SOHO, so I can't provide details other than this: the expulsion was facing AWAY from Earth, so it appears we're not at risk from a heavy hit. Still don't know the cause yet. And Ben made no mention of this in his report, so I have to wonder now if it was a false reading.
