SPACE - S0 - 20210408 - Electric Atmosphere, Magnetic Universe, First-Ever Weather Event

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Solar wind speeds definitely took an uptick yesterday. After a rise in Particle Density that spawned a brief geomagnetic storm, the level dropped and move wind speeds up from a low of just below 300 KPS to a peak of around 520 KPS. It has since calmed slightly and is currently in the 450-470 KPS range. Temperatures also moved up around the same time as the Density. The KP-Index shot up to two readings of KP-4 (minor) and a KP-5 (level 1 geomagnetic storm). It has calmed since then but remember that the effects of the last high reading can last for 24 hours, so eyes open for anyone with medical conditions. The Phi Angle was a bit of a mess all through yesterday and today, flying back and forth between 0° and 300°. The Magnetometer got pretty close to the lower threshold yesterday, then peaked above 125 nT, but this morning's low point is back in the nominal range. Electron Flux and Proton Flux remain nominal as well. No real flares on the X-Ray Flux chart, but the background radiation levels did increase to about halfway up the Class A flare range. Video loops show the Northern coronal hole getting a bit bigger as it approaches the midpoint, but not by a lot compared to yesterday.
