SPACE - S0 - 20210416 - Sun Waking Up, Massive Galactic Sheet, Disaster Trigger

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Solar wind speeds slowed again after peaking out at just under 420 KPS yesterday, bottoming out to 320 KPS (with a single spike hitting 300 KPS). It started climbing a bit after that, but around 2200 UTC there was a large Phi Angle Shift that made the Particle Density shoot up for about four hours. Right after it dipped, up went the wind speed, currently at 460 KPS (and climbing). Temperatures actually dipped when the Particle Density dropped, but then almost immediately returned to its former level or slightly lower. We're now over 24 hours past yesterday's KP-Index jump into geomagnetic storm levels (thankfully, it was just one reading), so we should be out of the medical risk area by now. Magnetometer, Proton Flux and Electron Flux levels are nominal. X-Ray Flux background radiation remains elevated in the high Class A range, with only a very few small spikes just touching the Class B range. The main body of the Southern coronal hole is now passing through central heliographic longitude, and it looks to be doing so for at least the next 18-24 hours. Expect increased wind and particle density from this by the end of the weekend. Lots of small bright spots appearing on the Eastern lim, as well as what's already on the surface, with the latter sprouting a lot more underlying magnetic complexity. Most of it seems to be small and at Alpha level, but the two main (larger) bright spots in the Southern lower latitudes are a lot more complex today than before. Eyes 0pen, No Fear, as they say...
