SPACE - S0 - 20200209 - Large Coronal Hole, Storms, Ancient Disaster Art

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Before I get to the details, I have to mention the gorgeous supermoon I saw out my back window this morning. A little farther from home, the equatorial coronal hole is pretty close to the midpoint, with another equatorial hole developing about two days behind it. Several bright spots glowing on the opposite side of the lim, we'll see what they look like in a day or so. Solar winds continued to calm down to a current speed of 425 KPS from yesterday's reported 500 KPS. Did see a spike on the charts indicating a cosmic ray strike, but the KP Index has had mostly KP-1s and KP-2s, with a brief KP-3 around midnight UTC, all within the safe range. The electron count dipped below the SWPC threshold yesterday but it's getting close to it again. Quake-wise, a bit of a busy one with a Mag 5.0 east of India, a strong Mag 6.1 well south of the South Sandwich Islands, a Mag 5.2 off L'Esperance Rock New Zealand, a deeper Mag 6.2 off New Guinea, and a Mag 5.1 south of the tip of Africa.
