SPACE - S0 - 20200227 - Betelgeuse Brightening, Storms, The Climate Stories

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Well, SpaceWeatherNews.com is down right now, but I believe that's due to server maintenance that was mentioned yesterday. Luckily, the Disaster Prediction app  on my phone from Suspicious0bservers still works fine ($2.99/year if you're interested).

Solar winds bumped up a bit in the last 24 hours, but only a bit -- a net 20 KPS gain, with winds in the 340-360 KPS range (current speed around 345 KPS). The Phi Angle got a bit wonky yesterday afternoon, but it doesn't seem to have caused any major issues in the geo-solar magnetic connection. It was enough, though, to get the KP Index off the floor, but it's still pretty low, with KP-1s and KP-2s predominating. There were a couple of coronal holes which showed up about 20° South of the equator. One has already passed the midpoint, and the other should cross in the next 8-12 hours. The polar coronal hole is much larger than usual, but that's due to our orbital position. The lithosphere was a lot calmer than yesterday, with only a Mag 5.0 in India and a Mag 5.1 in the Southern Mid-Atlantic region to report, and a lower count of blot echo activity as well.
