SPACE - S0 - 20200202 - Sun, Weather, Mars, Cosmos, Spark of Life

Good Morning, 0bservers!

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!!!

Solar winds dipped a bit yesterday afternoon, then rose into the 460 KPS range, and eased back a bit to a current speed of 425 KPS. The rise and drop in speed was reflected in the KP Index, which stayed at KP-1 most of yesterday, increasing to KP-2 overnight, and is now back at KP-1. The Northern bright spot is approaching the Western lim with a bit of increase in activity, but it's well out of the danger zone. The bright spot in the South continues to decay and dim, so I think we're out of the woods for that one. The Southern coronal hole is approaching the midpoint, so we should see some effect from that by midweek. Looks like Guatemala got spanked with a shallow Mag 5.6, and there was also a deep Mag 5.0 off Indonesia. Otherwise, it was just low blot echo activity, and not really a lot of that, either.

And keep this in mind...

Punxsutawney Phil Didn't Commit Suicide.

Just sayin'...
