SPACE - S0 - 20200913 - Gulf Storm Risk, Magnetic Excursion Core, Solar Forcing

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Solar wind speeds had a mild rise through yesterday, up to a peak of 350 KPS, before coming back down after midnight UTC to the 310-320 KPS range, so, not too much movement. We have yet to see any effects from the coronal hole streams on Thursday/Friday, but those should be coming soon. Just how much oomph they carry is another thing. There was a very minor rise in particle density before this speed increase, but it doesn't really seem to fit the bill as a coronal stream precursor this time. The Phi Angle shifts seem to be more a driver of this situation, but the KP-Index readings don't bear that out, with KP-1s and KP-2s predominating. The Electron Flux seems finally to be calming down, with yesterday's peak barely edging over the threshold (it's usually a high curve). The X-Ray Flux remains calm, as do the solar videos. Looks like all the bright spots are on the other side of the Sun right now, because the Earth-facing disc is surprisingly calm in that regard. The quake activity is back down to very quiet levels, with only a half-dozen blot echos (between Mag 4.1-5.2) and no surface temblors.
