SPACE - S0 - 20200920 - Ocean Shutdown is Accelerating, Space Dust
Good Morning, 0bservers!
That very mild rise in yesterday's solar wind speeds took a bit of a nosedive after the report, dropping overnight to a low of 270 KPS before crawling back up to 300 KPS a few hours later. There was a brief jump in particle density, but that may have been due to an equally brief polarity jump in the Phi Angle. Doesn't appear to be coronal hole-driven. The KP-Index is pretty docile, with mostly KP-0 readings with a few KP-1s thrown in. However, we did see a mild rise in the X-Ray Flux readings. The video records of the solar disc don't seem to show any surges, but that new grouping of bright spots is just passing the lim, so there may be activity there that isn't indicated on the stuff I'm watching. Not much coronal hole activity outside the polar regions, certainly nothing of risk to Earth at the moment. Had a few temblors of note, a Mag 5.3 in the South Shetland Islands (hope the teeny tiny horses there are alright), a Mag 5.8 along the Mid-Indian Ridge, a Mag 5.0 about 70 miles SW of the Solomon Islands, a Mag 5.4 near the Galapagos Islands, and a lot more blot echo activity than the last few days.
