SPACE - S0 - 20201010 - Rotation Glitches, Past Extinctions, Magnetic Moon
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar wind speeds continued to drop, but frankly they couldn't drop all that far. It took a steady path from a high of nearly 340 KPS down to 280 KPS a couple hours ago. Density and temperature are steady to slightly lower. The Phi Angle stabilized in mid-evening, but we did see a bit of a rise in the X-Ray Flux. The KP-Index is very calm, mostly KP-0 readings, so we'll keep an eye on that today as we're in minor Cosmic Ray Alert territory. The Southern bright spots are bubbling and popping a bit (hence the increased X-Ray readings), and the magnetometer readings are showing at least Beta level complexity for the underlying sunspots. Some minor coronal hole development near the equator, but I'm not sure how much output we'll get from them, if any. As to earthquakes, we had a Mag 5.2 off Port-Vila, Vanuatu and a Mag 5.0 along the Southwest Indian Ridge, and a good handful of blot echo activity to boot.
