Smart Shooter's SMASH 2000 rifle sight being evaluated by US Army
Thousands of rounds were fired during an 11-day series of tests to examine the sight's capabilities compared to Army-issued optics

Israel's Smart Shooter company announced late last week that its SMASH 2000 rifle sight was tested by the U.S. Army last month under a Defense Department program for determining whether foreign technologies can fill U.S. military operational gaps.
The live fire testing was conducted September 14-24 at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, an Army installation in Maryland, by the Product Manager Individual Weapons section of the PEO Soldier governmental organization. The tests were funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

Smart Shooter is a manufacturer of innovative fire control systems that significantly increase the accuracy and lethality of small arms. The company says its technology provides the capability to engage and eliminate ground, aerial, static or moving targets during both day and night operations.
Thousands of rounds were fired by soldiers at the installation's outdoor range in order to compare the target-hitting capability of the SMASH 2000 to that of standard U.S. Army-issued optics. Targets ranged from 25 meters to 400 meters in a variety of fixed, pop-up, and moving target scenarios.
“Testing the SMASH 2000 is another example of how OSD continues to evaluate foreign technologies that could fulfil specific DoD operational needs,” said William Everett, U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, who is responsible for sponsoring many such comparative tests.
Bob Phung, Project Officer, Product Manager Individual Weapons, said "Our job in the PM office is to look for and evaluate promising technologies to support our warfighters. The SMASH 2000 is one of those promising systems that could significantly improve the soldier’s lethality, especially under duress. We will have to collect the data and determine next steps.”
