SPACE - S0 - 20201016 - Earthquake Watch, Cosmic Discoveries, Electric Earth
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar wind speeds dipped to below 260 KPS around midday yesterday, but by midafternoon the particle density rose and so did the speed - up to 310 KPS peak in mid-evening. Current speeds are 310-320 KPS. Saw a number of cosmic ray hits on the detectors yesterday, but the KP-Index did finally rise up to KP-1 readings in mid-evening and has remained at that level at this writing. Just remember, Zero Day effects continue up to 24 hours after the readings finally rise. Electron Flux looks good, and the X-Ray Flux has calmed a bit from the previous report, up until it spiked into the Class B flare range just before this posting. The new bright spot in the Southern hemisphere is now being preceded by a rather large coronal hole. The latter should reach the midpoint in 36-48 hours. The magnetometer image for that bright spot is now showing Beta complexity (at least) so we'll be watching that more closely as it approaches central heliographic longitude. The only quake of note was a Mag 5.0 at the Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
