SPACE - S0 - 20201012 - A Wave in the Stars, Record Milky Way Flaring
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar wind speeds had a pretty sharp drop after 0100 UTC, down to 275 KPS, but is back up in the 290-300 KPS range. The drop was preceded by a stabilization in the Phi Angle, which also dropped particle density, about two hours previous. The KP-Index stayed mostly at KP-1 throughout yesterday and this morning, dotted by the occasional KP-0. The Electron Flux remains below the threshold, and the X-Ray Flux is remains in the low Class A flare range. The Southern bright spots remain quiet for the moment as the trailing one passes the midpoint. We're seeing a new one coming in from the Eastern lim in the North. Also, I'm seeing some growth in the coronal hole systems at both poles, and there are some mottled and uncoordinated coronal hole activity in the mid-latitudes. The lithosphere was a bit busier yesterday, with a Mag 5.1 just North of Palekastro Greece followed by a Mag 5.2 about an hour later, and a Mag 5.5 about 50 miles Southwest of La Esperanza Mexico.
