SPACE - S0 - 20200503 - Cosmic Arcs, New Resonant Cavity Solar Micronova Trigger

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Solar winds were jumpy again yesterday, and that's a bit of an understatement. It had one sudden surge to around 470 KPS, then suddenly dropped to the ambient speed of 310 KPS, then jumped again to 500 KPS for a couple hours, falling again to the 320-350 range, with a slow slope back to a current 300 KPS "breeze" This likely due to the Earth crossing the solar electromagnetic sheet, but it's odd to actually see it have such a sharp effect. Speed hikes were matched by brief spikes in temperature and drops in particle density. With all that said, the KP-Index stayed well in the calm range, mostly KP-1s with a couple of KP-2s and a brief KP-0. Some disorganized coronal holes keep trying to develop along the equator, but it is doubtful we'll see any significant output as they pass the midpoint. The large bright spot just South of the Equator is almost to the Western lim. No new bright spots seem to be coming across the surface, although the incoming lim does suggest some activity in the mid-to high Southern latitudes. And while nothing seemed visible on the LASCO C3 video, the WSA-ENLIL Prediction graphic on the SWPC Space Weather Enthusiast website showed an ejection a few hours ago. The current track shows that it will MISS the Earth, passing behind our orbit, so we should see little to no effect. As to the lithosphere, it was really "gettin' jiggy with it" over the last 24 hours. There was a Mag 5.5 just off the Southern coast of Puerto Rico, a strong Mag 6.6 in the Mediterranean Sea, about 55 miles South of Ierapetra Greece followed by aftershocks of Mag 5.4 and 5.3, a deep blot echo (about 115 miles) just outside Lampa Peru at Mag 5.7, and a Mag 5.1 just off the East Coast of Taiwan.
