SPACE - S0 - 20200501 - Rings, Arcs, Blot Echoes, Switchbacks, Super Hail
Happy MayDay, 0bservers!
If you were flying a solar sail ship yesterday, you were effectively becalmed as solar wind speeds stayed very low, near 260 KPS. However, an overnight Phi Angle shift bumped up the speed slightly to near 300 KPS - still in the very calm range. Almost all of yesterday had KP-0 readings, causing a brief Cosmic Ray Health Alert, but the latest reading bumped up to KP-3, which should blow away any potential cosmic ray risks. A patchy coronal hole developed in the last few hours, just North of the equator, and is just passing the midpoint as this report is posted. A few new bright spots are popping up on the surface, but no evidence yet of underlying sunspot activity. No earthquakes above Mag 5.0 yesterday, with only a moderate amount of blot echo activity, none higher than Mag 5.3.
