SPACE - S0 - 20201119 - Solar Eruptions, Dark Fail, Polar Nova
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Saw a bit more variability in the solar wind speeds, but only because the chart itself is narrower now that the high peaks from earlier in the week have moved off. In actuality, the range was 280-320 KPS, which is low normal. The temperature and particle density readings were pretty much steady. Phi Angle had only mild variability, not wild swings, which might explain why we're almost back to the KP-Index doldrums. We had nine straight hours of KP-0 in the afternoon, only wimping its way back to KP-1s for another nine hours before dropping again after midnight UTC. Magnetometer and Electron Flux readings are within the normal bounds. The X-Ray Flux dipped a bit further down in the Class A flare range, but then started slowly creeping up closer to Class B again, but with no spikes. The Northern coronal hole is just about at the midpoint now, and the polar hole seems to have increased a bit toward it (don't know if they'll connect). The Southern bright spots continue to march across the disc, but thankfully they've remained calm - so far. However, there are some active incoming bright spots/sunspots which will be turning in from the lim shortly.
