SPACE - S0 - 20201122 - Bombshell Climate Studies, Dr. Robitaille Swings an Axe

DAY-yum, talk about a change in the weather! Yesterday morning, solar wind speeds were riding around 350 KPS. Just around midnight UTC it topped 500 KPS. It peaked a couple hours ago to around 650 KPS before settling down to 600 KPS at this writing. Oddly, no corresponding precursor rise in Particle Density, but we did see the Temperature increase moderately. That drove the KP-Index up into the low geomagnetic storm region (KP-4) both before and after midnight UTC, otherwise it stayed in the green zone. The Electron Flux is in the normal range, but the GOES Magnetometer showed a second serious drop this week down below 40 nanoTeslas. The X-Ray Flux remains elevated in the upper third of Class B flare range, and some late breaking spikes into C as we saw yesterday. The readings appear to be coming from the incoming sunspot group crossing the Southeast lim. We're also seeing a new coronal hole extension coming down from the North pole, and it should be crossing the midpoint today or early tomorrow.
