SPACE - S0 - 20201125 - First Big CME of the Cycle, Cosmic News
Good Morning, 0bservers!
Solar wind speeds decreased again yesterday, going from a high of around 480 KPS to around 380 KPS now. This in spite of a particle density rise in mid-evening. This may be due to Phi Angle instability which began around 0200 UTC. The KP-Index was calmer yesterday, with almost a solid line of KP-1 readings, but we did see a jump to KP-3 a couple of hours ago before dropping back down again. Electron Flux readings are riding the threshold line with low crests and low ebbs. Magnetometer readings are nominal, but we did see a Class C flare spike on the X-Ray Flux chart a few hours after midnight UTC. As you might suppose, it came from the new incoming sunspot groups. Looking at the Magnetogram image this morning, it's no wonder - that grouping is bloody massive! Looks complex as hell, too. Luckily it's still pointing away from Earth, but that'll change in the next 48-72 hours.
