Good Morning, 0bservers!
Had more of those weird solar wind speed jumps yesterday. The "background" speed stayed along the 280-320 KPS range, but there were three distinct jumps - immediate ones - that would suddenly read in the 450-480 KPS range. At this writing we're back down around 280 KPS. Similar temperature jumps at the same times, and density remains in high-normal range. Unfortunately, that didn't translate well in the KP-Index, and we're back down to a host of KP-0 readings through most of yesterday and this morning, with only a lone KP-1 in the early evening readings after the early morning KP-2s petered out. Ben Davidson released a Cosmic Ray Health Advisory this morning around 05:30 EST, with 18 hours at KP-0, and the 27 hour average reading at KP-0.2, so keep your eyes peeled for any health effects. The X-Ray Flux began to jump a bit again yesterday, with some spikes into the mid-Class B flare range. Looks like those came from the Southern sunspot group, which is just approaching the midpoint. The new Southern sunspot is turning in from the lim, and I'm seeing a similar glow in the North, maybe about a day behind.
