SPACE - S0 - 20201101 - Sun Triggers Lightning, Climate Models Stumble

Good Morning, 0bservers!

CURSE YOU, BEN FRANKLINNNNNN!!!
[it needed to be said...]

Okay, this is an odd duck - we had a particle density rise yesterday midday, but instead of solar wind speeds increasing, they dropped from 440 KPS to around 370 KPS. It did rise again to 420 but it's now riding the 380-400 KPS range. Doesn't look like the cause in the drop was caused by the Phi Angle either, which was relatively stable at that point (it got a bit squiggly just before midnight, and yes, squiggly IS a scientific term...). The KP-Index stayed in the KP-2 to KP-1 range, with a brief KP-0 thrown in the mix. The Electron Flux finally dropped below the threshold for the first time in days, and the Magnetometer rose above 120 nanoTeslas briefly yesterday afternoon. The X-Ray Flux did dip into the high Class A flare range before creeping back up into Class B, with a few small spikes in that range. The departing sunspot group in the Southern hemisphere seems to have been the cause of those spikes, with some minor crackling visible on 304Å. Those coronal holes are growing in the South, which should start crossing central heliographic longitude by tomorrow. New bright spots on the Eastern lim are already showing up on the magnetogram, but at the moment their underlying sunspots appear disorganized. Just remember, though - that can change really fast.
