SPACE - S0 - 20200103 - Meteor Shower, Magnetic Analysis, Svensmark

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Looks like the solar wind speeds re finally coming up off the deck. They topped over 380 KPS yesterday evening, then sank back to around 320 KPS, then built back up to 380 KPS at last reading. Most of yesterday's KP Index readings were in the KP-1 reading, but we just had a KP-3 pop up a little while ago. Magnetometer and Electron readings took a deep dive at about the same time. We've got a few scattered coronal holes crossing the midpoint, but of note is a longitudinal hole in the Southern hemisphere right in front of that sunspot group, which is still producing some pretty prominences but so far no burst activity. The underlying spots are showing beta-class activity, but the positive and negative cores are pretty spread at the moment. The planet was a bit more "jiggly" yesterday, with a Mag 5.6 about 30 KM off the East coast of Japan, a 5.5 in the Solomon Islands (onshore, not off), another 5.5 off Indonesian coast, and a sprinkling of blot echos hither an yon.

A nice bonus video on Plasma Climate Forcing from the Sun...
