SPACE - S0 - 20200126 - Solar Flares Return, Earthquakes, Climate, Cosmos

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Looks like Solar winds had some minor spikes upward, but only briefly and into the 330-340 KPS range. It's back below 300 KPS right now, and the KP Index has remained calm in the KP-1 range, with a brief KP-2 around midnight UTC. The bright spot from yesterday actually quadrupled in size from yesterday and it's heading for the midpoint, with a new one coming in from the Southeastern lim. The sunspots beneath it are showing beta class magnetic polarity, but the holes are well separated. It could "pop" as it crosses the meridian and will remain a risk for at least 48-72 hours should it crank out a major flare. The active region increased Turkey got another after shock with a Mag 5.1, thankfully a far cry from yesterday's Mag 6.7. However, the lithosphere was a lot more active overall yesterday, with a number of Mag 5.3 quakes off New Zealand, a Mag 5.3 near Puerto Rico, and Alaska very active off Amatignak Island with some very shallow at Mag 5.7, 5.6, 5.1, and a couple 5.0s.
