Colombian Army acquires new Galil ACE-23 assault rifles: report

The Infodefensa website reported that the General Command of the Colombian Military Forces, through the Ministry of Defense, has acquired over $10 million worth of new Indumil Galil ACE-23 rifles. The deal for the 5.56x45mm caliber weapons is said to include grenades and spare parts for 40 mm MGL type grenade launchers. With this acquisition, according to the report, the military continues the process of replacing its 5.56x45 mm Galil AR rifles still in stock.
The ACE-23 is part of the ACE line manufactured by Colombian company Indumil under license from Israeli company IWI for more than a decade. The rifle has a length of 975 millimeters (895 millimeters with the stock folded), a weight of 3.44 kilograms, an effective range of 300 to 500 meters, and a recharging system powered by gas with rotating bolt, which allows it to fire up to 700 rounds per minute at a projectile muzzle velocity of 915 meters per second, with a 35-round curved removable magazine.

The rifle is also characterized by its low weight as a result of the replacement of part of the metallic material with others of different composition, as well as its five picattiny-type adaptation rails, which improve the precision of the weapon, allowing it to reduce its consumption of ammunition. The ACE-23 is equipped with the Meprolight Mepro 21 or the Meprolight Mor illuminated day/night reflective sight.
