SPACE - S0 - 20201214 - Magnetic Changes, Solar Plasma, Predictable Quakes

Good Morning, 0bservers!

Damned data drops on the DISCOVR charts again, folks, starting almost straight up at midnight UTC. The good news is it finally started up again just over six hours later, so we're getting readings again. The better news is that it shows solar wind speeds didn't really change from the dropout to the return, hovering around the 330-350 KPS range. Temperature and Density stayed close to their previous readings, and the Phi Angle seems steady as well. The KP-Index showed a couple KP-0s yesterday morning, and a couple more just after midnight UTC, but otherwise we've had KP-1 to KP-2 readings in the mix so we're in a good position there. The X-Ray Flux dipped a little in the background but still remains in the upper Class A range, and we had a single spike up into mid Class B yesterday around 1800 UTC, and some small bumps just above the Class B line after midnight. The coronal hole in the extreme South is about to reach the midpoint, but frankly it hasn't extended far enough North to be a risk. The small Northern hole is also approaching central heliographic longitude, but again, it's doubtful it'll boost wind speeds more than a couple dozen KPS for a couple hours. In other words, m'eh.
