SPACE - S0 - 20201211 - "Could be Catastrophic", Dust Surprise Near the Sun

Good Morning, 0bservers!

That peak in the solar wind speed from yesterday's report wasn't surpassed in the intervening 24 hours. In fact, it dropped to the 450-500 KPS range through most of the day, and dropped to about 440 KPS before jumping back up to about 475 KPS at 0800 UTC. Current speed has risen further to 550 KPS. Particle Density followed a similar track, and so did the Temperature although the latter did have a rather significant and squiggly drop around 0200 UTC lasting for about four hours before rising like the wind speed. The magnitude 3 geomagnetic storm the SWPC had on their prediction list didn't materialize, and after yesterday's initial KP-4 at midnight, the KP-Index stayed in the safe zone. Most of yesterday's readings were KP-1s, but we did rise up to KP-3 range after midnight. Magnetometer readings have normalized somewhat after yesterday's low, and Proton/Electron Flux activity is nominal. The X-Ray Flux chart showed more frequent flaring, but they were in the mid to upper Class B flare range while the baseline remained in upper Class A. The video loops aren't showing any new coronal hole development, but I am seeing that new bright spot coming in from the Southeast lim, and it looks like there's at least one more (perhaps two) getting ready to roll in. The good news is, I'm not seeing any sort of underlying magnetic complexity beneath the new bright spot, but that can (and often does) change pretty quickly, so Eyes Open...
